ABOUT THE EVENT
The festival took place May 4 - 6, 2024. It was a three day event consisting of two in person screenings and one virtual live screening.
The IN PERSON screenings took place on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th at the Honfleur Gallery (1241 Good Hope Rd SE, Washington, DC 20020) from 6:00PM - 8:30PM EST. Each Day of the In Person screenings was followed by a filmmakers Q&A with any attending filmmakers whose works were shown.
Monday, May 6 was ONLY be virtual and was live streamed on YouTube, 6:00PM - 7:30PM EST.
A recording of the festival and Q&A will be available after the event on Open Road's YouTube channel for a limited time.

We had a special cash award, juried prize for any filmmakers local to the DMV (District, Maryland and Virginia) in our ANACOSTIA Shorts Contest:
- Winner: $2,000 "An Ordinary Guy" directed by David J. Stern
- 2nd place: $1,000 "Interception: Jayne Kennedy • American Sportscaster" directed by Safiya Songhai
- 3rd Place: $500 "My Brother is Deaf" directed by Peter Hoffman Kimball
The OTHER shorts in the festival were eligible for an HONORARY award of AUDIENCE FAVORITE - determined by audience ballot.

Open Road hosted its first ever film festival on March 15th and March 16th, 2022 as a tribute to the art of the short (20 min. and under). There was a viewing of the films selected, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers whose films were selected and who were in attendance. March 15 was VIRTUAL ONLY on YouTube.
March 16 was VIRTUAL and IN PERSON at the Writer’s Center, Bethesda, MD located at 4508 Walsh Street, Bethesda, MD 20815.
